Maria Dunn combines North American music with the influences of her Scottish birth. Raised in Canada, this award-winning songwriter takes inspiration from historical and contemporary characters, capturing their struggles and triumphs in her lyrics. Her third CD, We Were Good People (2004), explores the stories of working people in Western Canada--tales of resilience and hope through experiences of immigration, internment, exploitation and The Depression. But there is nothing depressing about her music. She always finds the good in people and brings out the hope.
